Happy 2020 everyone.
The first draft of my first novel (typed from my notebooks)
I’ll leave it for a couple of weeks before doing the mountainous first revision of character, plot and setting. It feels good doing the first draft but there is so much more rewriting and editing to do.
My inspiration has come from multiple sources but guiltly I have to admit that E.L James of Fifty Shades was the driving force in me creating my first novel. Has anyone seen ‘YOU’ the TV series? Oh my God! That was both unsettling and fascinating to watch, there was like this little war raging in my head about – Oh! What he’s doing is bad – and on the other side I was rooting for the killer/stalker to get the girl. I was conflicted but I have to admit its been the best TV series I’ve seen so far. It’s given me inspiration to build my serial killer character that’s been silently growing over many years of contemplation and reflection.

Sketches for WarHammer 40K – Orks and Grots (goblins) I jotted down ideas for fleshing out a break-away Grot faction, The Bankers Guild – their only premise is to make money (market makers) and profit from legitimate financial dealings(The Galactic Charter) to more extreme and immoral methods, war for profit (sell weapons and armies to clients) sell extortionate medicines to suffering worlds and seize and annex property due to late and outstanding fees. To the most despicable and darker black markets using embezzlement, fraud, kidnapping and ransom, to raising a private army to collect outstanding debts (To ‘collect’ being an ambiguous term receiving payment using threats and warnings to armed force) The Collector approaches the subject, “I’m here to collect, thats my final warning.” He also charges an appearance fee.

Two recent updates this weekend, creating the new Chameleon Swing icon for the game and reworking the cyclops statue still hanging around inside my computer. Still alot of refining and muscle definition to do but it’s taking shape.

Hi All! Here is an outline of myself (how I’m feeling!) and undertaking Cory Huff’s art course, The Abundant Artist – lets see what happens (gulp!)

My name is Kier Eyles and I’m an artist based in the UK. I have the background and techniques in drawing, fine art, live art, filmmaking, 2D & 3D animation and game art, but now I need to promote, market and sell biro drawings effectively. I’m a bit of a hybrid artist with my attention currently focused on Chameleon Swing, a 2D mobile game drawn in biros and playable for the Android (www.firetwin.com + www.kiereyles.com ), and a 3D digital sculptor using Blender and ZBrush.

But the Work I find the most enjoyable, uneasy and more difficult to share with others is my fine art biro drawings – this is the work I would like to brand, promote and sell. Currently I have no sales at the moment because I have this question, who would buy it? It’s possibly too personal, weird and strange (or people call too stylised?) so finding my market and selling would be a huge plus!

I’ve started to create a new body of biro work, 8 pieces focused on the human form both mental and physical which I’m hoping to submit 3 for the Jerwood Drawing Prize in June, but also I want to sell, brand and promote the work

This is to explore film language for a cinematic idea – OK this is a personal animatic/storyboard piece to tie the characters together, Man-At-Arm (the good guy) and Modulok (the evil alien) part of the Master of the Universe story.

Apologies readers(if any!!) about the long delay in blogging a post of recent updates. I really have to be more consistent instead of going off on an art journey without you keen folk following me, just me i’m just bad at chasing up and building rapport over social media. – Anyway after the new year and the Trump becoming president I thought I share some recent arty, game asset updates for Chameleon Swing. We are well underway in finishing the special abilities to help people swing through the Madagascan jungle I have provided some of the (yawn, bore, grunt work, clean up – devil in the detail, final polish) sprite sheets the Chameleon( Were also in the process of changing Camill’s name – not catchy enough, it’s a good thing he hasn’t been Christened yet) with his horns and the suit of armour with our ace programmer adding extra spice with particle effect armour – ooohhhh! I know right!

In addition here are some extra art bits we will use for marketing, and that ugly word that everyone avoids but I like, Sell, Sell, Sell! So the first pic (Pic 1) is a pencil drawing and a complete line clean up in Gimp and the next stage will be biro inside the clean outline, rescanned, and cleaned – hopefully a new experimental piece and process in using traditional media, texture with the digital. Chameleon Swing – mobile game, August 2016

(I can’t help thinking Starship Troopers when talking about ‘BUGS’)

Thinking bugs, naturally chameleons eat bugs so we needed to have something for Camil to collect on his travels through the rainforest. I strolled into the the children’s section in the local library, and grabbed all the available books for inspiration and reference. Going through each one I learnt new quick-fire facts and consumed a barrage of bright colourful images to stir those creative thoughts.

(Here is an additional concept board of numerous trees from the beginnings (left) and the final look (right) I must of lost count of how many drawings there were – that branch is too short, too long, too many leaves, not enough leaves, the trunk is too short, it needs variation…and so on. I think we got there in the end
